After Care Tattoo

First and foremost, a tattoo is a wound, so there is no single method that guarantees perfect healing in every case. Every body is different, and every artist has their own approach. In addition, the tattoo artist’s technique also plays a role, so below we will give you some general advice that you can refer to whenever you have doubts, alongside the personalized recommendations we gave you on the day of your session.

The best way to heal a tattoo is to keep it clean and moisturized. If you are able to do this, no special tricks are required.

Materials for your aftercare:

* Healing cream specially designed for tattoos (available for purchase at the studio).

* Water and soap

Aftercare Routine:

You can begin your tattoo aftercare once you remove the initial film or dressing applied to the tattoo. This means approximately 3 hours after getting tattooed.

Three times a day, wash the tattoo with the recommended soap, gently dry it with a paper towel, and apply the cream. The cream should be applied in thin layers so that the skin looks shiny but without excess buildup.

The healing cream should only be used during the tattoo healing process. Once the wound has closed, you should only keep it moisturized with a regular moisturizing cream (you may use any cream you like that provides deep hydration, such as Neutrogena). Healing time will depend on the tattoo, normally, 7 to 14 days is enough..

Tattoo care and keeping the area constantly moisturized should continue for at least two weeks.

Advice:

Avoid touching your tattoo, and always wash your hands before doing so.

Wear loose clothing that sticks to the tattoo as little as possible. If during the night the tattoo sticks to your pajamas or bedsheets, apply lukewarm water and gently separate the fabric. Stay calm and do not pull!

Until the wound has fully closed, you should avoid swimming pools, beaches, lakes, as well as the gym and activities that make you sweat heavily. These are not very hygienic environments.

You should avoid direct sun exposure for at least the first 45 days. That does not mean you cannot walk outside and get a little sunlight!

During the healing process, your tattoo will itch quite a lot (like most wounds). You should NOT scratch it, peel it, or remove scabs or hard layers of skin.

It is just as important to moisturize the tattoo as it is to avoid over-moisturizing it. If this happens, you may notice small pinkish-white bumps appearing. In that case, let the tattoo rest for 24 hours without applying any cream, then resume the aftercare routine.

Remember that how well your tattoo ages throughout your life depends greatly on these first stages of aftercare. Since a tattoo is a wound, it can become infected if proper hygiene and care are not maintained. If you believe your tattoo may be infected, you should see your doctor immediately.

The free tattoo touch-up period must take place within one month after the session. After this period, any touch-up will be considered cosmetic and will therefore be charged accordingly. Any free touch-up must be approved and justified by the tattoo artist, provided that no negligence during the healing process is observed on the client’s part.

IMPORTANT: Tattoos on hands and feet are not covered by the free touch-up policy. Any touch-up in these areas must be paid for.
